Courage, is a funny thing. It comes in all shapes and sizes. Sometimes to propels us forward with every inch of our being and sometimes it is as subtle as the wind on the back of your neck. Sometimes we are so full to the brim with courage not even the hulk himself could stop us. Other times courage can be no where to be found. Courage does not always have to roar like a lion to be affective. Sometimes mighty courage is as silent as the thoughts swirling around in our head.
Courage can be making the decision that I am going to get back up and try again. It can be deciding that tomorrow I am going to press on despite todays embarrassing failure. It is looking at failure, looking at fear and moving forward regardless. Today I want to challenge you, be courageous. Not the Captain America way, not the Instagram highlight glamours way, but courageous in the way that is much too often overlooked.
Be courageous in your thought life.
2 Corinthians 10:5 NIV
5 We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.
Today be intentional to demolish every single thought that sets it self up against what God says about you. Make the choice to take every thought you have and if it doesn’t match up to the word of God throw it out. Simply say, “I refuse this thought, that is not in line with God’s word. It is not the truth.” At first this can seem like a daunting task but it can quickly become a habit. The key is consistency. Continue to feed your courage with God’s truth and His words. Start starving your fears and insecurities not letting them dwell one minute longer.
Set aside a few minutes every morning this week and speak to yourself in the mirror. Tell yourself some scriptures that reminds you of who God has called you to be. That way when courage seems to be fleeting you can remind yourself His words and refuse the lies! Ask the Holy Spirit to empower you, to strengthen you. Remember He is faithful to keep His promises.
But also keep in mind what you intake affects your outcome. So do not let what you are intaking kill your courage. If you are constantly intaking negativity and doubt then do not expect to have a peaceful victorious mind.
Philippians 4:8 NIV
“Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.“
Instead, feed your mind truth, pure, lovely, admirable things and what you intake will flow out. Set yourself up for success. Even if you don’t feel like anything is changing be consistent give it one day at a time. As a man thinketh so is he. We are children of God, who’s days are written out. Who are seated at the right hand of God in heavenly places. Who are royal heirs. Who are lead step by step by the Holy Spirit. Who are given the spirit of wisdom and discernment to protect us. Who are given new mercy and grace each day.
Who walk with courage even when it does not roar.
