There are times in life that can leave our head spinning. Days that turn into nights, which then flow into weeks that seem to be gone before you can take one exhale. Obstacles stand in front of you that can seem to be higher than the courage to climb over them. What are we do to do when we need to pick a direction in the road but each choice is unknown?
-You block out all the noise. The sound from others, the chattering in your mind, the blaring news, shut it all off.
-You get on your knees to pray. Humbly go before God and sit at His feet.
-You sit there and receive His peace. Not rushing, no agenda, just pause in His presence.
This is where I was just yesterday. I realized that the noise from everything around me and in me was louder that the words that I needed to hear. The word of God. So I turned it all off and I sat down. Before I prayed I worshiped. Then I got lost in worship and became so grateful for Jesus. My issues seemed far off in the distance as my heart overflowed with thankfulness.
I realized that it has been ten years since I tried to take my life. I have had ten years full of days gifted to me. Days that I am blessed to wake up breathing because, despite me, Jesus had the final say in my life. When I turned my heart from a posture of panic and stress over to Jesus, He returned peace and thankfulness to me.
I stopped seeking answers and instead just wanted to sit in His presence. Then I came to Jeremiah 29 and got the exact word I needed. Verse 11-14, “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and find Me, when you seek Me with all your heart. I will be found by you, says the Lord…”(NKJV).
It blessed me so much. We have a God that is not far off. A God that does not run and hide or turn away from us when we need Him. We have a God that is found, that cares, that is closer than a friend. He is not a God of confusion. He moves in line with His word.
I want to encourage you today. Whatever decision that is weighed heavy upon you, remember Jesus’ yoke is light. Be reminded that peace comes in His presence. His joy is your strength. Do not be robbed of what God gives you freely.
Take a breath. Turn off the noise. Get into His presence.
You do not have to have all the right words to pray. You do not have to even know how to sing. Just seek Him with all your heart and He will be found. Sit at His feet and begin to feel the peace pour over you. If you do not know which way to turn, open up His word. His word is a lamp to your feet.
Love you, Heather
