Every now and then life throws us some curve balls, or knocks the wind out of us. Or maybe your like Heather this seems to be every other week. Just when you seem to stable yourself from the last blow another is on the way. My friend you are not alone. I do not know whoever put the illusion out there that this Christian walk is easy, all smiles and butterflies. I do however have some good news, the enemies blows have a lot less of an effect if we anticipate them coming. The more we suit up with our armor and sharpen our weapons the more we can take blows with grace. How do we prepare? Okay are you ready? Here is the life changing secret. (Just kidding it is available to all , it is in the Bible, Ephesians 6 to be exact.)
“Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people. “
I do not know what battle you are facing but I do know every single one of us are facing one or maybe surrounded by them. Do not grow weary instead seek Him out all the more. Cry out to Him like the real ugly tears. You do not have to fake it be overly spiritual. JESUS I NEED YOU! SAVE ME! HELP ME! This is what Peter cried out when he felt he was drowning and in a moment Jesus reached down and saved him. He can and will do the same for us.
When you are down I know that it is much easier to stay there then to fight to get up, fight to power though. Like Elijah (in 1 Kings), who was so depressed and weary that he just laid down to die. It took everything in him to get up. I want to encourage you from this place because each time you get up, you get stronger. Each time you come to the end of your rope we allow Jesus room to do what He does best. We allow Him to come into our situation and fill in our weaknesses. When we get to the end we get desperate enough to give our ALL over to Him. One foot in front of the other, one prayer at a time, one worship song at a time. Get in His presence, get in the word. When Jesus comes rushing in all the other noise has to go. All the lies must flee, all the doubt can not stay, the fear has to bow. When you ask Him to fill you His perfect love is enough for what you are going through.
Get up. You can do it. God is for you who shall stand against you? I know when your in the moment this can feel stupid, do not give way to your feelings, they are liars. Like I am crying and my nose is running this way and that and you want me to put a worship song on and praise God?! You want me to declare the promises that I am more than a conquer I feel like a failure?! YES…that is exactly how we fight our battles. ON OUR KNEES, in prayer, in praise, and in worship. Do it until He renews your strength and spirit. I PROMISE when you sit (not do a fly by prayer) in His presence He will give you the strength you need to get back up.
So don’t think about it, don’t give in to your feelings, just do it. Watch your spirit rise. Love you all! Praying for God to show up in your life in a new beautifully bold way today!
