It is a set up.

From a young age we get set up for dreaming. Teachers, parents, Disney movies, the sky is the limit. “You can be whatever you want to be”, we hear over and over again. As we get older…life happens. Heart break happens, betrayal occurs, dreams shattered by those many times closest to us. Those dreams we held in our hearts as kids can seem like they are mere illusions and so far out of reach the older we get. The more bills we get to more doors are closed in our face can make our dreams look impossible to manifest.

Let me stop right there, with God ALL things are possible. Get that in your heart! He knitted us together in our mothers womb and placed these dreams in us. To be a teacher, to write a book, to bring change to the world. We are all created and wake up everyday with purpose. I used to look over my past and feel like it was this daunting spaced of wasted time. That each day would bring me age and a whole lot of waste. I know that sounds gloomy but just being honest. I feared getting old, that no one would want to marry me the older I get. In my head I wanted to be well into my career and have kids and the whole nine yards. Now I can laugh at myself and truly thank God of His timing not mine. All the relationships all the pain all the trials are not set backs they are set ups. God is setting you up not setting you back. He is growing us, maturing us, giving us some grit to our grace. Helping us to actually value things because they came at a price. Setting us up for marriage or for the job because now we can see the value in it. If your life just happened the way you wanted do you really think you could be grateful and humble? I find things I do not work hard for or sacrificed for can easily be taken for granted. Your past is not a waste it is part of your story and part of your testimony. Setting you up for your God given potential. I am currently meditating on the story of Joseph.

See Joseph had a dream, a great dream! Once he shared it his family was jealous and tried to kill him. They threw him in a pit and then sold him into slavery. I could image the thoughts he was having in that pit That he had those moments of crying out or shouting out to God, “But why!! Why did I even have that stupid dream. Why is this happening to me, God do you even care? Are you really going to let me die in this place” He did not and could not see how God was going to use the pit. That from the pit he would go to Egypt to be positioned in the right place to eventually end up at the palace.

I do not know where you are or what pit you are in but I do know God is positioning you in the perfect place. Take heart and do not be shaken. Do not look around at the circumstance, instead look up to to our savoir. Look up to Jesus who quiets the storm, renews our strength, and gives us hope. No matter what the enemy has done to try to kill your dream, steal your joy, or destroy your peace Jesus will use it for good in your life. Nothing is wasted. No weapon formed against us will prosper. Get His word so hidden in your heart that NOTHING will shake you. Keep at it. Together we can lift each other up. Together we are stronger. Praying for you, love you!

Practical TIPS:

  • Keep your eyes on Jesus, not on your problems.
  • Stay focused on the truths when you find yourself in a pit. Not on the lies.
  • Pick the phone up, phone a friend. We are stronger together.
  • Pray and pray with someone. Agreement is a powerful things.
